Dante Pettis Back In The Mix
5 years agoSan Francisco 49ers wide receiver Dante Pettis played in a season-high 72 percent of snaps in Week 6 and enters Week 7 as a WR4 against the Washington Redskins. Although he has just 83 yards on nine catches, Pettis’ usage has been gradually trending up and he’s suddenly the Niners wideout to own. The Redskins are the 24th-worst pass defense by DVOA and have mostly given up passing gains via short routes (9.6 YPC). This bodes well for Pettis, who isn’t a field-stretcher but a refined route-runner. While Pettis’ stock is rising, his floor is also exceptionally low with the Niners the run-heaviest offense in football and likely to play the time of possession game on Sunday. Expectations should be tempered.
