Preston Williams (WR, MIA) - Week 8 Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team PPR Leagues

OWNED IN: 12% of Leagues

ANALYSIS: In perhaps the best game of the season for most Miami’s players so far, Preston Williams showed again his value even when playing in the worst possible situation. Yes, the Dolphins are tanking and we all now that, but the signs are there that Williams can provide points on a weekly basis for his fantasy owners no matter what.

Through seven weeks and six games, Preston Williams has been able to amass 36 targets, 17 receptions, 232 yards, and a touchdown. William's usage has also remained constant during the past three games, with seven, six and eight targets on a team-leading number of snaps. Excluding the bizarre game against Washington in Week 6, Williams would have posted back to back games of four-plus receptions for 46-plus yards each with more than 6.5 yards per target. In that game against Washington, though, he was also able to rack up 31 yards on just two receptions, which wasn’t bad at all.

If Williams can start finding the end zone (more a problem of the offense as a whole and the Dolphins QBs in particular), then his value would take a massive leap. In his last game, he was able to finish with 14.2 fantasy points just on pure catching/yardage, and he is a true 10-point player without scoring, so his floor is solid while his ceiling is not far from 20 points if he can score here and there. With Pittsburgh, the Jets and Indianapolis on the Dolphins schedule next, all three of those games should present good chances for Williams to keep building his game (all of them have below-average defenses against WRs). Williams is definitely a good addition for deeper league teams on the look for flex plays, even more considering he’s the no. 2 at most in his offense (only Devante Parker could be considered above him and probably more due to name than production).
