Raheem Mostert Enjoys Breakout Performance
5 years agoSan Francisco 49ers running back Raheem Mostert rushed 19 times for 146 yards and a touchdown in Week 13’s loss against the Baltimore Ravens. He also caught two passes for eight yards. Mostert dominated backfield touches and ran hard all game, rendering starter Tevin Coleman obsolete. His touchdown came on an impressive 40-yard scamper in the second quarter. The fifth-year pro has flashed promise when given opportunities so the breakout isn’t a complete surprise, but his apparent usurping of Coleman certainly was. Mostert’s expected playing time increased on Sunday after Matt Breida (ankle) was ruled out, but Breida practiced all week and seemed close to returning. If Coleman and Breida are both active in Week 14 against the New Orleans Saints, Mostert is just a boom-or-bust flex option.
