4 years agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Nate Pearson got a starting rotation audition on Tuesday in an exhibition start versus the Red Sox, but early struggles hurt the youngster. After recording two outs and allowing four runs in the first inning, Pearson was bailed out of the frame on a pitch count that the team had set in place. He did settle down over the next three scoreless innings, finishing with five strikeouts while allowing five hits and two walks. The last spot in the Jays rotation is up for grabs, but after this underwhelming outing versus a regular season opponent, the Jays may decide to give their prized prospect more time to develop with the alternate squad.--Riley Mrack - RotoBaller
