Greg Ward (WR, PHI) - Week 8 Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues

ROSTERED: 7% of Leagues

ANALYSIS: Up to nine receivers have dressed already this season for the Eagles. Injuries have killed half of the squad, and it's been a "next-man-up" approach for weeks now in Philly. Barring the absolutely unexpected explosion from Travis Fulgham, Greg Ward has been the most reliable wideout for the Eagles, playing all seven games and averaging 10 fantasy points per game.

Ward clearly leads all (healthy) Eagles skill-position players in snaps (343), and only Zach Ertz (injured; 372) has more than 283 snaps played for the team this season. As part of TNF, Ward scored his third touchdown of the year against the Giants last Thursday, tying Fulgham for the team lead in that department. He did so while catching 5 of 6 targets from QB Carson Wentz, finishing the game with 15.2 PPR points.

Although Ward had a rather bad game in Week 6 (3.9 PPR), he's reached at least 7.8 points in all other games (five) he's been on the field for more than 13 snaps. Ward is getting almost six targets per game, and although his catch rate is a little low (72.5%) he's been able to rack up more than 30 yards or score a touchdown in five of seven matches this season.

I have been advising to get Ward from the WW for a while now. He's not an incredible talent, nor plays for the most impressive offense, but he's a rather nice play with some weekly 10-PPR floor and WR2 upside.

The Eagles face Dallas (sixth-worst defense at preventing fantasy points from WRs) before going on a bye, so make sure to exploit that matchup. I'd hold onto Ward for longer though, as the three games after that bye week are all against bottom-10 defenses including the worst (Cleveland) and second-worst (Seattle) in the NFL.
