Brandon Belt Makes Spring Debut Wednesday
4 years agoSan Francisco Giants first baseman Brandon Belt (heel) made his spring debut as a pinch-hitter on Wednesday as planned against the Padres. He struck out in the at-bat. Belt has missed all of spring training to this point as he recovered from off-season heel surgery, bouts with COVID-19, and mononucleosis. Per Giants reporter Kerry Crowley, Belt said he's not sure if he'll be ready to go by Opening Day, but he thinks he'll be pretty close. Further, he said he thinks he will be in the lineup Thursday and is eager to get on the field. The 32-year-old had a solid 2020 season, slashing .309/.425/.591 with nine home runs and 30 RBI, so he could be a late-round fantasy asset once again if he can get healthy.
