4 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals first baseman John Nogowski was informed that he had made the Opening Day roster, Ben Frederickson of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Sunday. After making his major league debut in 2020, Nogowski was on fire throughout Spring Training, slashing .379/.526/.586 with two home runs and a 3:9 K:BB ratio in 20 games. Through his career in the minors, Nogowski has shown 15-homer potential with the ability to get on base at a high rate with a career .375 OBP — which includes a 2019 performance in which he set a career-high with a .413 OBP. His value will be limited with the presence of Paul Goldschmidt in the lineup, but when he gets into the lineup he's an interesting option in deep, NL-only leagues and OBP formats.--Michael Grennell - RotoBaller
