Stephen Strasburg Remains Shut Down From Throwing
3 years agoWashington Nationals starting pitcher Stephen Strasburg (neck) remains shut down from throwing, according to Jesse Dougherty of the Washington Post. Manager Dave Martinez said that Strasburg is only doing lower body exercises currently, and that there is a good chance Strasburg will have a follow up appointment in the next few days with another specialist, as he continues to deal with a nerve irritation. Strasburg was placed on the 10-day IL last week with a neck strain, after exiting his last start in the middle of the second inning. He's struggled to stay healthy this season, as he has pitched only 21 2/3 innings across five starts. When he's on the mound, he's posted a 1-2 record and 4.57 ERA with 21 strikeouts. Managers will hope that he can resume throwing soon, and for now they should continue to keep an eye out for further updates.
