3 years agoArizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner (shoulder) and relief pitcher J.B. Bukauskas (elbow) are throwing, as they continue to work their way back from injury, according to Zach Buchanan of The Athletic. Bumgarner has been sidelined for a week with left shoulder inflammation, while Bukauskas has been out for nearly a month with a right elbow flexor strain. Bukauskas had started off the year looking good on the mound by allowing just one walk with three strikeouts over his first three appearances, but since then he's allowed eight runs in 5 2/3 innings of work. Meanwhile Bumgarner had put together a stretch of six great starts in a row, posting a 1.32 ERA and 4-1 record with 39 strikeouts over 34 innings of work in that span. But since May 22, Bumgarner had gone 0-2 with a 12.00 ERA over 12 innings of work. Both pitchers could have some value going forward, but managers shouldn't go out of their way to chase either one immediately upon their activation from the IL.--Michael Grennell - RotoBaller
