3 years agoChicago Cubs starting pitcher Trevor Williams (appendix) threw a simulated inning off the mound on Tuesday and could begin a rehab assignment soon, according to Jordan Bastian of MLB.com. Williams has been out since June 1 after undergoing an emergency appendectomy, and Bastian reports that it's expected he will throw at least one more simulated game before beginning a minor league rehab assignment. Prior to the injury, Williams was 3-2 with a 5.36 ERA and career-high 24.9 percent strikeout rate over 43 2/3 innings of work. When he returns, his value will mainly be as a matchup-dependent streaming option.--Michael Grennell - RotoBaller
