3 years agoHouston Astros starting pitcher Jojanse Torres (elbow) had arthroscopic surgery on Wednesday to remove a bone chip in his right elbow, according to Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle. The No. 17 prospect in Houston's system according to MLB Pipeline, Torres made the jump from High-A in 2019 to Triple-A this year, but has struggled a bit early on. Over five starts and three relief appearances, Torres has gone 0-3 with a 7.32 ERA and 1.932 WHIP across 19 2/3 innings of work. Despite that, Torres has managed to post a 24.5 percent strikeout rate, which is only slightly lower than the 27.8 percent strikeout rate he posted across his first two years in the minors. There's no timetable for his return yet, but it's possible that if he's able to return this year, he could end up finding his way onto Houston's roster as part of a playoff push.--Michael Grennell - RotoBaller
