3 years agoChicago Cubs infielder Eric Sogard (thumb) has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a left thumb contusion. Sogard has been operating as a backup infielder for the Cubs and has also made five appearances as a relief pitcher. Sogard hasn't done much this season with his bat and is hitting .250 with one home run and 11 RBI. Even when healthy, Sogard should be on the waiver wire. Sogard will be replaced on the roster by infielder Sergio Alcantara. Alcantara will operate in a similar role as Sogard was for the Cubs and can be avoided in all formats for now.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller
