3 years agoKansas City Chiefs running back Jerick McKinnon will compete for the backup running back job with his new team during training camp. McKinnon comes over from the San Francisco 49ers and played in all 16 games this past season. It's significant that he was able to be healthy for the full season, because he missed the 2018 and 2019 seasons with injuries. McKinnon rushed the ball 81 times for 319 yards and five touchdowns this past season. He also chipped in with 33 receptions for 253 yards and one touchdown through the air. McKinnon will be competing with Darrel Williams and Darwin Thompson to backup Clyde Edwards-Helaire. Williams appears to have a leg up for now, but if CEH were to get hurt, the Chiefs could turn to Williams for early downs and pass protection with McKinnon operating as the receiving running back. McKinnon should remain undrafted at the moment, but CEH managers will want to keep an eye on this battle.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller
