Kris Bryant Comes Off Bench On Thursday
3 years agoChicago Cubs infielder/outfielder Kris Bryant (hamstring) pinch-hit on Thursday versus the St. Louis Cardinals. Bryant has been sidelined with hamstring fatigue and tonight was his first appearance since leaving Tuesday's contest early. Bryant drew a walk in his at-bat and then was pulled for a pinch runner. It's an encouraging sign that Bryant was able to get an at-bat, but there is no indication that he will return to the lineup on Friday. With the Cubs looking like sellers, they will be extra cautious with Bryant. Outfielder Rafael Ortega and infielder Patrick Wisdom have seen the most uptick in playing time when Bryant has missed time this season and both will have increased value if Bryant is dealt. Ortega doesn't offer much to managers at the moment, but Wisdom has provided plenty of power and is already worth rostering in most formats. Bryant remains day-to-day.
