Javier Baez Scratched From Monday's Lineup
3 years agoChicago Cubs shortstop Javier Baez (heel) has been scratched from Tuesday's lineup versus the Cincinnati Reds with a bruised left heel. Baez suffered the heel injury on Sunday but pinch-hit on Monday and recorded the game-winning hit. Baez will be replaced in the lineup by infielder Nico Hoerner. Hoerner has been in a slump lately and will bat seventh versus Vladimir Gutierrez. With Hoerner not offering much power and not hitting the ball well of late, he makes for a risky play in DFS on Tuesday evening. Baez is a trade candidate, and the Cubs figure to operate with plenty of caution ahead of Friday's trade deadline. Baez remains day-to-day.
