Joshua Kelley Struggles In Preseason Opener
3 years agoLos Angeles Chargers running back Joshua Kelley struggled in Week 1 of the preseason versus the Los Angeles Rams. Kelley saw 19 snaps on the evening and only picked up 19 yards on eight carries. He also had one reception for negative three yards. Kelley had a great training camp last season as a rookie, but it didn't translate into the regular season and Saturday's performance was discouraging to open his sophomore year. Kelley is competing with veteran Justin Jackson and rookie Larry Rountree III for snaps behind Austin Ekeler. Jackson hurt his groin on Saturday and that should help Kelley get some more opportunities, but he will have to have a strong showing in the next two preseason games and the rest of training camp to give both the Chargers and managers a reason to consider him as an option moving forward.
