Vladimir Gutierrez Takes Sixth Loss
3 years agoCincinnati Reds right-hander Vladimir Gutierrez allowed four runs (three earned) over 3 1/3 innings in a 15-5 loss to the Detroit Tigers on Friday. Gutierrez struck out one and walked one while throwing just 41 of 67 pitches for strikes. The rookie hurler coughed up two homers in the start before departing early. Gutierrez has been mostly solid during his rookie season, although he has allowed nine runs in 6 1/3 innings spanning his past two starts. On the season, Gutierrez has a 9-6 record, 4.17 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, and 76 strikeouts over 99 1/3 innings of work. Gutierrez will look to bounce back in his next start, which will come against the Chicago Cubs.
