Vladimir Gutierrez Strikes Out Six In No-Decision
3 years agoCincinnati Reds right-hander Vladimir Gutierrez turned in a solid outing in a 4-1 loss to the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday. Gutierrez allowed just one run over five innings while striking out six and walking two. His only mistake was a solo homer to Ian Happ in the first inning. The rookie hurler didn't stick around long enough to factor in the decision but his outing on Wednesday was a step in the right direction after he had allowed eight earned runs over his previous two starts. Gutierrez now has a 9-6 record, 4.05 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and 82 strikeouts in 104 1/3 innings of work. He's scheduled to face off against the Pittsburgh Pirates next.
