Van Jefferson (WR, LAR) - Fantasy Football Week 5 Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues

OWNED IN: 5% of Leagues

ANALYSIS: Are we sure it is Robert Woods who forms the one-two punch at the receiver position for the Rams? Are we sure we didn't miss the forest for the trees (worst joke ever)? Hmmm... Los Angeles got stomped by Arizona this past Sunday but, once more, Van Jefferson outperformed Robert Woods and has now overtaken him in the total PPR leaderboard four weeks into the season. Not bad for an afterthought of a player competing against a projected stud, right?

Cooper Kupp is going nowhere and is a lock to finish the year as the clear WR1 of this Rams squad. That's entirely out of the question. But outside of Kupp, it's been Jefferson and not Woods who has helped this team the most on pass-catching duties. Jefferson has three games of 8.2+ PPR points, two at-or-above 16 FP, and is coming off his best outing of the season thanks to an impeccable 6-for-6, 90-yard, one-touchdown line against the Cards this Sunday.

Woods has logged the second-most targets from newly acquired QB Matthew Stafford, turning those in 15 receptions for 172 yards and 2 scores. Jefferson, on the other hand, is predicting efficiency weekly with his 13-of-18 for 226 yards (19.9 YPR) and 2 TDs on the year. Woods is close to Jefferson in total PPR at this point (46 to 47.6) only because of Woods' 4 carries for 18 yards and because of the higher volume of targets. Give Jefferson a bunch of rushing attempts and two more targets per game and he'd be dancing around Woods easily. Get some shares of Jefferson before some other GM realizes who's the real WR2 of the Rams and start him as your WR3/FLEX at the very least going forward. He's that good--if not more.
