Jimmy Garoppolo Misses Monday’s Practice With Thumb Injury
3 years agoSan Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (thumb) was not present at practice Monday, as head coach Kyle Shanahan revealed that the signal caller is dealing with a sprained right thumb stemming from a Week 16 defeat against Tennessee. The team's current plan is to reevaluate Garoppolo on Wednesday and make a determination at that point about his status for Sunday's game vs. the Texans. Should Garoppolo be held out, Trey Lance -- the third overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft -- would likely be in line to make his second career start. Lance accounted for 281 yards of total offense in Week 5 against a solid Cardinals defense, but he did not find the end zone. Garoppolo is coming off a 322-yard performance, which ties his second-highest passing output this season, even as it came with the caveat of two interceptions. Irrespective of which QB is under center, the Texans defense is an exploitable unit from a fantasy perspective; fantasy managers will want to check back Wednesday for the next update.
