3 years agoThe San Francisco 49ers listed quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (thumb) as doubtful to play in Week 17 against the Houston Texans after he didn't practice all week. Rookie Trey Lance is now expected to make his second start of the season with Garoppolo dealing with a Grade 3 thumb sprain. In his lone start in his rookie season back in Week 5 against the Cardinals, Lance went 15-for-29 for 192 yards with no touchdowns and one interception. He also ran the ball 16 times for 89 yards. The matchup against the Texans is a great one and Lance has more upside than Jimmy G because of his rushing ability, but the 21-year-old will be a risky QB1 streamer in deeper leagues if the Niners rely on their running game with Elijah Mitchell (knee) and Jeff Wilson Jr. Consider Lance a high-end QB2 play this weekend.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
