Ilya Mikheyev Surprises Ottawa With Two Goals Saturday
3 years agoToronto Maple Leafs forward Ilya Mikheyev made his season debut on December 14th against the Edmonton Oilers. Then, all the delays, some COVID protocol, and Canadian attendance restrictions happened. Mikheyev started on Saturday and had one of the best performances of his career. The Toronto winger fired seven shots on goal while generating five scoring chances. Now, two of those pucks went in the net. Mikheyev scored late in the first period with a short-handed tally. Then, in the third period, he was set up by Ondrej Kase and Jason Spezza to tally a power-play goal. If Mikheyev can stay healthy, he can provide that middle-six scoring punch Toronto sorely needs.
