Jimmy Garoppolo To Start In Week 18 If Healthy
3 years agoSan Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said that quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (thumb) will start in Week 18 against the Los Angeles Rams if he's healthy enough to play. "We're not just going to throw a guy in after one game like this when Jimmy has been doing it for us all year," Shanahan said. Garoppolo never attempted to throw this weekend and is unlikely to be fully healthy after suffering a torn ligament in his right thumb in Week 16. San Fran is optimistic that he'll test his thumb out this week, but it's uncertain when that might happen. Rookie Trey Lance started out slow in Week 17 against the Houston Texans, but he shaped up late and finished 16-for-23 for 249 yards and two touchdowns and a pick in the win. Lance has more fantasy upside than Garappolo, but we probably won't know until later in the week who will start in Week 18.
