Baker Mayfield Won't Play In Week 18
3 years agoCleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield (shoulder) won't play in the Week 18 regular season finale against the Cincinnati Bengals, head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed on Tuesday. Mayfield will undergo surgery as soon as possible on his injured left shoulder. The 26-year-old has been playing hurt nearly all year after he suffered a labrum tear in his shoulder way back in Week 2. Along with the shoulder injury, he's fought through foot and knee injuries as well. All in all, it was a rough season for Mayfield, as he'll finish with a career-low 3,010 passing yards on 418 attempts (60.5 completion percentage), 17 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. His struggles were on display in Monday night's loss to Pittsburgh in which he tossed two more interceptions and took nine sacks. Mayfield will be playing on his option in 2022 and will be trying to convince the team he deserves a long-term extension.
