3 years agoSan Francisco 49ers rookie running back Elijah Mitchell (knee) was held out of practice on Wednesday. It's unclear if this is just the 49ers resting Mitchell ahead of a must-win game in Week 18 against the Los Angeles Rams or if he suffered a setback in the Week 17 win over the Houston Texans. We'll continue to keep a close eye on the 23-year-old's practice status the rest of the week. After missing the previous three games, Mitchell handled 23 touches for 130 scrimmage yards and caught a touchdown pass, all with rookie quarterback Trey Lance getting only his second career start. The sixth-rounder, who has reached 100 yards rushing in half of his 10 games, will have a much tougher test in the Rams this weekend, though, who will be trying to lock up an AFC West title. Jeff Wilson Jr. would be the team's lead back if Mitchell were forced to miss another game.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
