3 years agoThe Houston Texans signed running back Rex Burkhead to a contract extension on Friday that will run through the 2022 season, according to sources. Financial terms of the extension were not disclosed. It's not saying much, but Burkhead has stepped up to lead Houston's backfield this year with 110 rushing attempts for 403 yards and three touchdowns, adding 22 receptions on 28 targets for 144 additional yards in 15 games played. The 31-year-old has stepped up in the second half with David Johnson injured and dealing with COVID-19. Burkhead is averaging 7.3 carries and 26.9 rushing yards this year, and he'll be a low-upside RB3/flex in the Week 18 regular season finale against the Tennessee Titans with Johnson back in the fold.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
