Derek Carr Extension Could Reach Significant Mark
3 years agoLas Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr is entering the final year of his contract in 2022, leading to speculation that the franchise could seek an extension that would put to rest any murmurings of free agency. Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal has hypothesized that an offer would likely be in the ballpark of $40 million per year, which would make Carr just the fourth signal caller to receive that elusive sum by '21 figures. (Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Dak Prescott are the others.) Carr helped lead the Raiders back to the postseason this year, throwing for a career-high 4,804 yards, which ranked him fifth in the league. With the addition of another pass-catching weapon or two, Carr could easily slot into a Top 10 fantasy quarterback for the '22 season, irrespective of whether he inks a new deal prior to Week 1 or not.
