Avoid Rashad Jennings, Shane Vereen and Andre Williams Until Further Notice

The Giants backfield has been giving fantasy owners migraines all season long. New York utilizes the ever-hated 'running back by committee' approach that leaves fantasy owners wondering if their guy will get enough carries, goal-line touches and playing time to warrant a start.

Early on, it appeared that Rashad Jennings would be the starter receiving the heaviest workload, with Vereen being a passing down back and Andre Williams seeing goal-line opportunities. As the season has progressed, what appeared likely in the preseason hasn't been the case lately.

Last week against the Dallas Cowboys, Rashad Jennings only carried the ball five times for 19 yards, while Shane Vereen carried four times for 56 yards. Andre Williams also carried for four times, gaining only 13 yards.  The big name in the Giants backfield last week was Orleans Darkwa. Wait, who?

Orleans Darkwa exploded onto the scene last week, carrying the ball eight times for 48 yards and a touchdown. It's probably a safe bet to say that many didn't benefit from Darkwa's performance since he was owned by virtually no one.

Owners of Jennings, Vereen and Williams definitely didn't benefit either and now have yet another person to worry about splitting carries with. While I'm not convinced that Darkwa has earned himself a starting role or even a significant role yet, he certainly poses a threat to the other Giants running backs.

With the emergence of Darkwa and the lack of consistency that the Giants backfield has been this year, it's grown hard to start any of the Giants running backs in the near future. Who will get the majority of work in New York?  Who will get the goal line carries?

Your guess is as good as mine at this point. I'm recommending sitting all Giants running backs until further notice. Perhaps a true starter will emerge in the coming weeks, but I wouldn't roll dice with any of their running backs until some clarity is provided.
