FanDuel DFS Pitchers
Shane Bieber, CLE at CWS ($11,500)
Bieber is truly one of the best pitchers in the AL. That’s evident when you see his 3.23 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, and 30.3 percent K rate, with much of that damage coming in the second half. Over his last 12 starts, Bieber is pitching to a 2.56 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, and 10.2 K/9 rate. All of those are scary numbers for an offense like this, with the White Sox ranked 24th in runs scored, 25th in K rate and 22nd in xwOBA. They’re even worse against righties, sending out hitters like Jose Abreu, Eloy Jimenez, James McCann, and Tim Anderson from the right side to oppose Bieber. All of this has the Indians entering this matchup as a –300 favorite.
Zack Greinke, HOU at SEA ($9,400)
Greinke hasn’t quite been himself since joining the Astros but he’s still one of the best pitchers around. That’s clear when you see his 3.05 ERA and 1.01 WHIP. Those stellar numbers would put him in play against almost anyone but especially the Mariners. Not only does Seattle rank 28th in K rate, but they also sit 26th in xwOBA. Those statistics make it no surprise that this is one of the five-worst clubs in baseball since the opening month and even less surprising that Greinke enters this matchup as a –350 favorite.
FanDuel DFS Infielders
C.J. Cron – 1B, MIN at DET ($3,200)
It’s amazing to see Cron’s price this low in such a good situation. The simple fact is, this dude is one of the best hitters in the Majors when he faces a lefty. That’s evident when you see his .381 OBP, .640 SLG and 1.021 OPS with the platoon advantage in his favor this season. It’s not like he has to face a tough lefty here either, with the Motor City Kitties sending out Daniel Norris and his 4.58 ERA and 1.34 WHIP. Those ugly numbers from Norris have the Twins projected for more than five runs and we anticipate Cron being a major part of that damage.
Ozzie Albies – 2B, ATL at KC ($3,700)
This kid got a lot of crap for his team-friendly contract but he’s showing people that he means business no matter how much is on his paycheck. Over his last 21 games, Albies is hitting .387 while providing a .642 SLG and 1.069 OPS. He actually has an OPS approaching 1.000 dating all the way back to the beginning of June and it’s becoming evident that he’s one of the best second basemen in our sport. Getting to face Mike Montgomery's 5.00 ERA and 1.61 WHIP is simply the icing on the cake, with Albies generating a .390 AVG, .695 SLG and 1.103 OPS against lefties so far this year.
Alex Bregman – 3B, HOU at SEA ($4,400)
Bregman has been the best player in baseball the last two months and it’s going to be tough to fade him in this brilliant situation. Let’s begin with this matchup, as he faces Yusei Kikuchi and his 5.55 ERA and 1.54 WHIP. That happens to give Bregman the platoon advantage, with the slugging third baseman amassing a 1.102 OPS against them this season. Not to mention, Bregman has a .373 AVG, .480 OBP, .745 SLG, and 1.225 OPS over his last 45 games played.
Jonathan Villar – SS, BAL at TOR ($3,600)
It’s truly incredible how good Villar has been this season. He’s actually Top-5 in season-long leagues, thanks to a ridiculous second half. Over his last 55 games played, Villar has a .315 AVG, .387 OBP, .557 SLG, and .944 OPS. Those look like the numbers of an elite power hitter but he’s actually batting leadoff and has provided 21 steals in that span as well. That’s a nightmare for a guy like Jacob Waguespack, with the Toronto righty pitching to a 4.75 ERA and 1.36 WHIP.
FanDuel DFS Outfielders
Nelson Cruz, MIN at DET ($4,300)
It’s crazy to see a 39-year-old mash baseballs like this guy does. It’s very reminiscent of David Ortiz near the end of his career and it’s clear Cruz has found the fountain of youth. Let’s take a look at his bonkers statistics, with Cruz being one of the league leaders with a .631 SLG and 1.018 OPS. Those are epic numbers and it doesn’t even take into consideration that he has a .402 OBP, .755 SLG and 1.156 OPS against left-handers this season. That’s terrifying news for Daniel Noris’ ugly numbers from the Cron write-up.
Tommy Pham, TB vs. NYY ($3,900)
The Yankees are sending out J.A. Happ and that means we have to stack some Rays against him. The reason for that is because the NY southpaw is currently pitching to a 5.01 ERA and 1.30 WHIP this season. Those numbers are right up Pham’s alley, with the versatile outfielder accumulating a .467 OBP and .944 OPS against lefties so far this season.
