Giancarlo Stanton is Still a Top-Five Fantasy Baseball Pick in 2016

Giancarlo Stanton was a monster in 2015 before a broken hand in late June shut his season down. Stanton, who was on track for an MVP-caliber year, had 27 HR and 67 RBI, both which led the NL, before suffering that broken hand. If Stanton could stay healthy for an entire season, he would consistently be viewed as the top pick in fantasy baseball. But with an injury-filled history, and studs like Mike Trout, Bryce Harper and now Paul Goldschmidt putting up stellar numbers, Stanton will have to settle for top-five status.

Stanton improved every month during the 2015 season. He finished April with six HR, May with nine HR and June with 12 HR before breaking his hand with a week left to play in June. The Marlins expect him to be 100 percent by Spring Training, according to Rotoworld, and only time will tell if baseball's strongest power hitter can finally finish a season without landing on the DL. Stanton’s injury history always makes him a risky pick, especially one with so much responsibility, though it’s impossible to ignore his numbers when healthy.
