ANALYSIS: Green Bay Packers wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling has all the stars aligned for a productive fantasy stretch ahead. He's the clear No. 2 receiver on the team behind Davante Adams while Allen Lazard (core muscle) is sidelined. Lazard had core muscle surgery a few weeks back and should remain out for at least a few more weeks, if not longer.
Despite a rough game in Week 6 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is off to a phenomenal start to the year with a quarterback rating of 109.7. He's thrown 13 touchdowns and just two interceptions through five games. While Adams will of course be the main benefactor of Rodgers's strong play, there will be other pass-catchers on the team who benefit from an MVP caliber Rodgers season, and Valdes-Scantling is the most likely candidate for now.
Valdes-Scantling has earned four or more targets in each game so far this year and he is tied with Adams for the team-lead in targets over the year with 30. Valdes-Scantling hasn't been very efficient with his targets, catching just 50% of them, but he's averaging a sturdy 16.1 yards per reception.
The Packers will need to continue relying on Valdes-Scantling going forward as they simply don't have any other options. He should be added in all leagues of 14 teams or deeper and is a viable WR3 or flex starting option going forward, especially in a favorable Week 7 matchup against the Houston Texans.
