NBA Waiver Wire: Shallow League Adds for Week 24

It's Week 24. Congratulations if you've made it this far! We hope you still have a shot at winning it all and you're feeling good about your chances. Regardless of your situation, this is the home stretch and working the waiver wire successfully in these next few weeks are key to making a strong run in the postseason. Here are some interesting adds that can help you with your season goals.

This year, we're tossing out our old convention of separating waiver wire posts into positions, and instead, we're separating them into of league -- standard, shallow, deep, etc. The NBA is trending to positionless basketball, so we at RotoBaller should too.

For shallow (8-10 team) league adds, we use a general rule of thumb of an ownership rate of under 65% on Yahoo. All position eligibility based on Yahoo leagues.

Editor's Note: Our incredible team of writers received five total writing awards and 13 award nominations by the Fantasy Sports Writers Association, tops in the industry! Congrats to all the award winners and nominees including NBA Writer of the Year, Best NFL Series, MLB Series, PGA Writer and Player Notes writer of the year. Be sure to follow their analysis, rankings and advice all year long, and win big with RotoBaller! Read More!

Shallow League Adds for Week 24

Quinn Cook, PG

Ownership: 47%

7.3 PPG / 2.0 REB / 2.0 AST / .473% FG

I wrote about Quinn Cook last week as he was in the midst of making the most of his opportunity starting in place for the injured Stephen Curry. At the time, it wasn't clear on how long he would maintain this new role for, but with the recent news of Curry being out until the second round of the playoffs, Cook has become a must have on all fantasy formats. He has started seven of the warriors last eight games and is set to be the starting point guard the rest of the season.

With the Warriors current depleted roster, Cook has been contributing across the board and has been an absolute stud thus far. Since the Warriors have called on him to take a larger role for the team, he's averaging 16.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game on .51% shooting from the field. It's the championship matchup this week for most fantasy leagues and points, rebounds and assists are hard to come by on the waiver wire. He's able to produce in all of those categories as well as threes, pick him up and get that much closer to winning your fantasy league.

Trey Burke, PG

Ownership: 23%

11.1 PPG /  1.8 REB / 3.7 AST / .516 FG%

It seems like the next big thing in New York could be their late season acquisition, Trey Burke. He has been a pleasant surprise for Knicks fans who gave up on the season when Porzingis went down. He exploded Monday night for one of the top performances of the season with 42 points and 12 assists on 61% shooting. Is it too early for Burkesanity posters in New York? Whether or not you believe the hype or not, he deserves to be at least looked at to help your fantasy teams.

He made his second consecutive start of the season and with the Knicks firmly out of playoff contention, they could continue to experiment with this lineup of Burke starting over Frank Ntilikina. He's also a pretty consistent scorer as he's hit double digit scoring in nine out of twelve contests this month. Burke is a streaky player, so he should be owned for the time being while it seems that his stroke from the field is on point.

Jaylen Brown, SG/SF

Ownership 61%

14.2 PPG/ 5.2 REB / 1.6 3PM / .462 FG%

After a scary fall that sidelined Brown (concussion) for a couple weeks, he finally returned to game action Sunday night against the Kings and he was impressive. He scored 19 points on 6-of-10 FGs in just 25 minutes of action. With the injuries of Marcus Smart (hand) and Kyrie Irving (knee), the Celtics will rely on the trio of their young stars Tatum, Rozier and Brown to produce offense as we head towards the end of the season.

He did have a dud game in Monday night's win over the Suns scoring 7 points and shooting 3-of-11 from the field, however he was able to contribute in other statistical categories like steals, rebounds and assists. After a long absence from basketball activities, it's safe to assume that he will be shaking off the rust for the next few games. As long as you can ride the bumpy roads ahead, Brown is a must have as the season comes to an end as he is a proven scorer on this Celtics team and his contributions will be needed even more with their plethora of injuries.
