4 years agoWith the No. 3 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the San Francisco 49ers have selected North Dakota State quarterback Trey Lance. A quarterback was going in this spot as soon as the Niners made this trade, but there was debate for weeks about if it would be Lance or Alabama's Mac Jones. Lance won out. In his one season as a starter, Lance was 192-for-287 for 2,786 yards, 28 touchdowns, and zero interceptions. He added 14 rushing touchdowns as well. Will it take time to adjust to the NFL after playing at the FCS level and basically taking this past season off? Sure, but the physical skills are here. He's got a strong arm and is a hard runner who'll make things happen when the ball is in his hands. The 49ers still technically have Jimmy Garoppolo at quarterback, but don't be surprised to see him moved. Lance shouldn't be a top fantasy pick in 2021 for re-draft, but you can make an argument for him being the No. 2 rookie QB in dynasty.--Justin Carter - RotoBaller
