7 years agoKansas City Royals shortstop Adalberto Mondesi was placed on the family medical emergency list on Friday, and the team recalled infielder Ramon Torres from Triple-A Omaha in a corresponding move. Mondesi could be away from the team for up to a week. With KC nowhere near contention, they have given Mondesi everyday playing time at the expense of veteran Alcides Escobar at shortstop. Mondesi hasn't done much, though, hitting just .250 with three home runs, 11 RBI and five steals in 72 at-bats. He can be useful for his speed in deeper leagues, though.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
