6 years agoCarolina Hurricanes rookie forward Andrei Svechnikov (upper body) left Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals against the Washington Capitals in the first period due to an apparent upper body injury. He was involved in a fight with fellow countryman Alex Ovechkin at the 9:01 mark of the first period, took a few blasts under the visor and then appeared to hit his head on the ice. He was helped off the ice by the training staff and immediately taken to the locker room and he is presumably in the NHL's league-mandated concussion protocol.--Daniel Dobish
