4 years agoThe Chicago Cubs continue to have interest in second baseman Scooter Gennett. Gennett got a late start to the 2019 season due to injury and just could never get on track, hitting an anemic .226/.245/.323 with just two home runs and 11 RBI in 42 games with the Reds and Giants. The 29-year-old did hit a combined 50 home runs in 2017 and 2018 with the Reds, though, and he was an All-Star in 2018 when he slashed .310/.357/.490 with 23 homers and 92 RBI in 154 games. Still, it remains to be seen if Gennett can get back to those heights, and there wouldn't be a guarantee of consistent playing time in Chicago if he signs there.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
