Drew Brees Not Guaranteed Repeat of Last Week
7 years agoNew Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees lit up the Panthers for 376 yards in a first-round playoff victory, as Carolina stacked the box in an effort to take away the run game. Minnesota will likely do the same with even greater success, as they ranked first in rush defense this season. That doesn't mean Brees will be throwing the ball 40-plus times, however. The Saints are committed to keeping defenses honest by doing what they failed to do at any previous point in the Brees era -- stick to the run. "We've seen a little bit more stacked boxes, safeties coming," right tackle Ryan Ramczyk said. "We're going to prepare and try to run the ball still." Brees is capable of putting up big numbers any given day, but this test will be far tougher than last week.
