7 years agoBoston Red Sox starting pitcher Drew Pomeranz (biceps) allowed one hit, one run, two walks and struck out five in six innings at Triple-A Pawtucket on Wednesday after struggling in three prior rehab starts. The velocity on his fastball was around 90 mph, but he was locating better and threw 45 of his 69 pitches for strikes. With Eduardo Rodriguez and Steven Wright both injured, Pomeranz could jump into the rotation as soon as next week. Those in mixed leagues will probably want to take a wait-and-see approach with Pomeranz, as he had an ugly 6.81 ERA, 1.84 WHIP and 8.8 K/9 in eight starts (37 innings) earlier this year. When he's right, though, he strikes out enough to be a streaming option, and he'll have one of the best offenses in baseball backing him.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
