6 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Frankie Montas allowed one earned run, three hits and no walks with six strikeouts over six innings in a quality start and win against the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday. He threw 51 of his 77 pitches for strikes, and managed just 13 first-pitch strikes to the 21 batters he faced while also hitting Mike Trout with a pitch. However, whenever he got into an unfavorable count or had base runners, he was able wriggle out of trouble. He has some fantasy value as an AL-only option as long as he can keep his rotation spot for the long haul, and he'll do just that if he keeps this up. Next up is an assignment in Houston on Friday night.--Daniel Dobish
