Gerrit Cole Gets Nod For Game 5 Showdown Against Rays

4 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Gerrit Cole will get the ball in Game 5 of the American League Division Series against the Rays on Friday night. It will be the first time in Cole's career that he's been asked to pitch on short rest -- just three days since he held Tampa to three runs and six hits in six innings in Game 1 on Monday. The right-hander will be opposed by starter Tyler Glasnow, which is a rematch of last year's ALDS Game 5 when Cole was a member of the Astros. Glasnow is a fine strikeout artist as well, but Cole has struck out 21 hitters in his last 13 innings, making him slightly more attractive in DFS for Friday night's win-or-go-home game.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
