7 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals first baseman/outfielder Jose Martinez was scratched from the starting lineup on Sunday. Martinez hit into a fielder's choice during his pinch-hit appearance on Monday. It sounds like Martinez is battling a sore ankle, but he should be able to return very soon. However, Martinez has been mentioned as a trade candidate, so maybe the Cards are just playing it safe in case they find a buyer for him at the trade deadline.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller
