4 years agoSeattle Mariners starting pitcher Justin Dunn gave up two runs on seven hits and three walks over six innings in Monday's win over the Rangers. This was definitely the best start of the season for Dunn, but it still left a lot to be desired. It's great that Dunn was able to secure a win and quality start, but the 10 base runners with only two strikeouts is worrisome. Though Dunn hasn't given up more than three earned run in a start so far, he couldn't make it past the fourth inning in the first two outings. Dunn owns a 1.62 WHIP, allowing 21 base runners with only eight strikeouts through 13 innings this season. With how much contact Dunn allows due to the low strikeout rate and how high his WHIP is, one could argue that Dunn has actually been lucky this season as his strand rate should be a lot lower. Dunn's next start comes Monday at the Dodgers and he shouldn't be started.--Steve McCarthy - RotoBaller
