Justus Sheffield Takes Loss Monday

4 years agoSeattle Mariners starting pitcher Justus Sheffield gave up four runs on four hits and two walks through 4 2/3 innings in Monday's loss to the Athletics. Considering Oakland's bats seem to have heated up as they put up 11 runs against the Mariners, the damage could have been worse but this is still not an encouraging start to the season for Sheffield and his 9.39 ERA and 1.70 WHIP. Despite having a lot of potential, Sheffield has not been able to show it in the majors yet. Given the track record and the low expected win total, there is no reason for Sheffield to be rostered until he shows some signs of getting on track. Sheffield's next start comes Sunday against the Rockies and he should not be started.--Steve McCarthy - RotoBaller
