Kyle Zimmer Only Going From The Stretch

5 years agoKansas City Royals pitcher Kyle Zimmer has decided to embrace his conversion to the bullpen by ditching the wind-up. It's a move that is fairly common amongst short relievers, but it seemed like every member of the Royals organization has held their breath and hoped for a magical turnaround with the oft-injured pitcher. Zimmer has been the unicorn of the organization for years, inspiring impassioned defenses that if he could just stay healthy, he was going to be a star. This move makes sense if it can keep him in the bigs, but it's also probably heartbreaking for a lot of front office members who swore that Zimmer's breakout was just around the corner.
