7 years agoNew York Giants safety Landon Collins, who is in the final year of his four-year rookie deal, is in line for a hefty extension that could earn him around $12 million total. The first pick of the second round in 2015 is due to make $1.2 million in 2018. Things are difficult for the Giants, as they are facing extensions with both Collins and high-profile wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. at the same time. The Giants have the option to place the franchise tag on Collins, but they'll likely save that for OBJ if needed. Collins is one of the better young safeties in the NFL, as he's recorded 100-plus tackles in each of his three seasons, including a career-high five interceptions in 2016.
