7 years agoThe Seattle Mariners signed free-agent catcher Cameron Rupp to a minor league deal on Monday, and he'll report to Triple-A Tacoma. Rupp could eventually become the backup to Mike Zunino in the second half, but he'll need to pick it up in the minors in order to get that opportunity. Chris Herrmann and David Freitas have been filling in with Zunino on the disabled list. Rupp hasn't played in the majors in 2018 but has combined to hit just .226 with 11 home runs and 32 RBI in 52 games in the minors with the Twins and Rangers.
