6 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Jason Vargas will remain in the rotation, at least for now. General manager Brodie Van Wagenen downplayed the possibility of the team pursuing free-agent left-hander Dallas Keuchel (Astros), while manager Mickey Callaway said Vargas will make his next scheduled start. "We have confidence in (Vargas). We have confidence in this team," Van Wagenen said. "We're not going to be making drastic changes to our club after one bad inning of a start where he had a schedule that was derailed from the start of the season." Vargas has a 6.32 ERA since joining the team on a two-year, $16 million deal last February. The GM might show confidence in Vargas, but fantasy owners certainly should not.--Daniel Dobish
