Nick Burdi Shut Down For 2020 Year, Bucs Bullpen In Flux

4 years agoPittsburgh Pirates right-handed pitcher Nick Burdi has been placed on the 45-day injured list due to a right elbow injury, ending his 2020 campaign just as it was beginning. Having notched his first big league save back on July 28, Burdi was holding down the Pirates’ closer’s role for the time being, having showcased a triple-digit fastball. With Burdi joining a group that includes Keone Kela, Kyle Crick, Clay Holmes, and Michael Feliz, on the injured list, Pittsburgh’s bullpen construction is completely up in the air. Owners will want to keep an eye on how the Bucs roll out their arms over the next few days to get a read on how manager Derek Shelton will manage a bullpen decimated by injuries.--Jesse Borek
