7 years agoSan Diego Padres general manager A.J. Preller said the team is expecting bad news on shortstop prospect Fernando Tatis Jr.'s left thumb injury. "We'll have more information here this weekend, but right now, the possibilities... potentially a fracture, potentially some ligament damage... He's probably going to miss some time," Preller said. Tatis injured the thumb attempting a steal Thursday night. He's the third overall prospect in all of baseball, per MLB.com. The star middle infielder has hit .286 with 16 home runs and 16 steals at Double-A San Antonio this year. He was certainly a candidate to come up in the second half, but this injury may curtail those plans. Tatis is still worth owning in most dynasty/keeper leagues for his upside, but we may not see him in the big leagues now until 2019.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
