6 years agoArizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Robbie Ray allowed three earned runs, three hits and five walks while recording nine strikeouts over five innings in a no-decision Friday against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He needed 102 pitches to record the five outs, and he threw just eight first-pitch strikes to the 23 batters he faced. The strikeouts were certainly nice for his fantasy owners, but he'll need to cut down on the free passes or he won't be as fortunate to escape with just three runs allowed most nights. He'll take the ball on Wednesday in San Diego. Since the start of the 2016 season he is 5-1 with a 3.74 ERA over 10 starts against the Padres with a .184 opponent batting average and 84 strikeouts across 55 1/3 innings.--Daniel Dobish
